Daniel's Prayer - The Need For a Savior

Daniels is triggered by the realization that the judgement over Jerusalem is coming to a 70-year close. This revelation comes from Jeremiah. He knows that Jerusalem has not repented. Daniel is anguished and this prayer is calling for the Messiah. In this, at a very foundational level, Daniel is showing us how to pray to the father. We could have drawn a lot of parallels with Daniels prayer and the Lord's prayer told by Jesus. As we dig into this prayer, we start asking some very fundamental questions about judgement and the nature of sin... and one that most people miss: why does God need to send a savior? We were given a hint of the answer to this when Darius could not rescind his own law that sent Daniel to the Lion's Den. This is a section of Daniel that is worth a lot of reflection. Read and reread. You're at the very top of the roller coaster ride and you about to take a ride down into one of the deepest prayers in all of the Bible.
