Darnell Nurse Set for Trade

Darnell Nurse, the 31-year-old defenseman who spent 12 seasons with the Edmonton Oilers, is parting ways with the team after a mutual decision. Known for his physical play and steady defense — highlighted by a career-best 43 points in 2022-23 — Nurse’s $9.25M annual contract has drawn criticism for not matching his elite status. His contract includes a modified no-movement clause starting in 2027-28, allowing him to block trades to 10 teams. Rumors point to potential destinations like Pittsburgh, Los Angeles, or Philadelphia, where the Flyers are actively seeking defensive upgrades.
