He was drafted #1 overall by the NY Mets in the 1980 MLB Draft and is a four-time World Series Champion. He also is an eight-time All-Star, 1983 Rookie of the Year, and a two-time Silver Slugger. His number 18 jersey was retired by the New York Mets, and he is in the NY Mets Hall of Fame. He is now a traveling evangelist and author.
