Dave’s career did not begin with becoming a pilot in mind, but he discovered his true calling after a stint in the Navy as a Naval Aviator, flying P3 aircraft, searching for Russian submarines! He then continued his love of flying airplanes, as he transitioned into commercial aviation and “landed” at United Airlines, where he spend over 32 years in the cockpit! We will talk about the many changes he has seen in the industry over his career, the impact technology has had in his field, how 911 changed everything, and even what the future looks like for the industry. One burning question he answers is what are the pilots doing up there while the plane is flying on autopilot? He’ll tell us about a few anxious moments he’s had, but and this is reassuring, he never had a time in all those years that he feared for the safety of his passengers and crew.
