Dave Chappelle's Block Party (2006) - The Live Hip Hop Soundtrack That Showcased The Roots and Their Friends with Beverly Encina

Beverly Encina joins Ryan Pak to talk about the soundtrack to Michel Gondry's 2006 concert film, Dave Chappelle's Block Party. Even though we didn't know each other back in 2006, we are linked by many of the artists featured in the film such as The Roots, Kanye, Common, Talib Kweli, Mos Def and more. We reflect on how we got into hip hop and how we ended up finding out about these artists. We also talk about the night of a Lauryn Hill show we attended where the pre-game was almost as memorable as the main event. We would love it if you would join our Patreon membership, where you will get quarterly bonus episodes, early access to our regular episodes, and much more This podcast uses the following third-party services for analysis: Podscribe - https://podscribe.com/privacySpotify Ad Analytics - https://www.spotify.com/us/legal/ad-analytics-privacy-policy/Soundtrack Your Life SocialsBlueskyInstagramWriting SiteYouTubePatreon Learn more about your ad choices.
