Fisher, who in 1984 became the first mother in space, retired in 2017 after nearly 40 years with NASA. Bagby interviewed many others for the book including Kathy Sullivan & Rhea Seddon (who along with Fisher were the first three women in space) and Guy Buford & Fred Gregory (the first African American men to fly).
