David: Build the life that you want

from Adam · host Adam Webber

David called in from his home base in Europe to share his story of starting his company and the entrepreneurial challenges and mindset that go in to achieving success. David’s company is all about Lego parts - small individual pieces that make up a larger more creative whole. There is a rich metaphor that I see in Lego’s and what David does, just like Legos we are all pieces and parts that we can break down into individual components and there is a Zen usefulness in examining which parts work and which ones don’t and what the larger structure that we are building is. David talks about how he found himself working in a job that he knew he was no longer inspired by and so he left that job to pursue a calling as an entrepreneur. David talks about a few challenges that he had to wrestle with on his journey, like being an introvert and needing to strengthen his ability to preform as an extrovert at times. Also how to handle negative feedback and not get caught in a “protectionism” mindset. You need to be able to release your products out into the world and receive input from your users in order to improve. Without it you are stuck. David advises us all to know ourselves, pay attention to our weaknesses because we all have them and look to improve in those places to achieve success.
