David is Rejected by the Lord . . . and Its Implications for Us this Christmas Season

from Ad Jesum per Mariam · host Ad Jesum per Mariam

David is Rejected by the Lord . . . and Its Implications for Us this Christmas Season While we listen to the annunciation scene; we hear the words from heaven. The words are directed to Our Lady, and they are also directed to us today. It’s a wonderous mystery. To better understand it, the Church gives us a cluster of readings today. The first reading (not included within this audio) is about David. David, a one-time shepherd boy, is now king and prosperous. Peace resides in the kingdom. He lives in a palace. He is thankful and grateful to our Lord. However, he recognizes while he lives in a grand palace, the Lord . . . and the Arc of the Covenant . . . resides in a tent. David believes this is no longer right. He wants to build a house for the Lord. The Lord, however, says it is He who defeated David’s enemies. You cannot build a proper house. The Lord will build the proper house. Yet the two were not talking about the same thing. The term house has different contexts. What does David’s House have to do with the Annunciation and the Christmas Season? What are the implications for us?
