David John Clark on being a "Late Bloomer Actor" and fitting it in around a 30 year public service career

from Actors Making It · host Danny Barton

This weeks guest is Adelaide native, David John Clark.  What I love about the conversation with David is how humble and down to earth he is about his acting journey.  At the time of recording David was still waiting for what he terms a “professional paid acting gig” yet by his definition, is already making it in the industry. Why? Because he is doing it, he Is loving it and he is enjoying the process of the journey.    We have a good chat about systems in society and the pressures and expectations we may put on ourselves to achieve a certain thing or be in a certain place by a particular time in our lives, and David is proof that it’s never too late.    I think this is likely my biggest take away from the conversation and frankly I think it is a timely reminder to all of us that really you have to love the craft and enjoy getting involved in what you can get involved with. It's great to chase a big dream and have your goals of making it in whatever that means to you… But if we continue to put those pressures and expectations on ourselves we are going to live in a world of disappointment.  Expectation can be a killer when it comes to mental health.    Check out Davids podcast "The Late Bloomer Actor" available wherever you get podcasts Check out David in Antaries or follow him on instagram Follow Danny on instagram or actors making it
