David Kwong, Hollywood Illusionist - Wired For Wonder + The Moment HQ

He is an illusionist and puzzle expert who believes that human beings are driven by the urge to solve problems and “create order out of chaos”. He is also the founder of the Misdirectors Guild, an elite group of magicians that specialise in magic for film and television. He’s spoken at TED and As the head magic consultant, David created illusions for the bank-heist film Now You See Me, teaching magic to Jesse Eisenberg, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Mark Ruffalo and Woody Harrelson. He has also designed magic and puzzles for Ant-Man, The Imitation Game, Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation, and The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, to name a few. When we push ourselves too hard and come from a space of “needing” and “wanting” we send out the message that we cannot have what we desire. That’s when we find ourselves facing roadblocks, burning out, flailing and repelling opportunities and people. Our conversation with David reminds us that it’s about “finding something that you truly love and doing it in an authentic way.” He stresses that “authenticity is the real key”.
