David Solbach has written several books, including a memoir, poetry, and novels. He says his writing style is inspired by William Faulkner and tempered by Ernest Hemingway. His latest novel, In The Shadow of the Plague, tackles real-life issues, such as the challenges of family, dating and marriage, and the state of the environment. The drama is steeped in meaningful, realistic dialogue. The book is set in the Pacific Northwest, where the author resides now, and takes place as the worst of the pandemic has passed.David Solbach is a retired carpenter and jazz musician tending goats on several acres in Eugene, Oregon rainforest. He grew up a Kansas farm boy, a third-generation son of German immigrants. He has also lived a half-century in San Francisco. He earned a degree in English, with minors in philosophy and music, from Occidental College. Other books by him include several novels: Stonepacker's Gold, So Glad I'm Glad I'm Glad, and First There Was Music: Reflections on a Life, a memoir.
