David's Story // Unfinished: Wk 02

David's fall into sin with Bathsheba reminds us that no one stands immune to temptation's pull. Through 2 Samuel 11, Pastor TJ shows us how a faithful shepherd boy who slayed giants and honored God could spiral into adultery, deception, and murder. The progression is sobering: David was where he shouldn't be, saw what he shouldn't pursue, and made choice after choice to go deeper rather than turn around. Yet the most hopeful truth emerges from Psalm 51, written in David's brokenness. When confronted by the prophet Nathan, David didn't make excuses or minimize his actions. Instead, he cried out for God to create in him a clean heart and restore the joy of salvation. The Hebrew word 'avar' captures God's response—He actively passes over our sin, not ignoring it, but covering it through Christ's finished work on the cross. We learn that while sin carries earthly consequences, it cannot deliver the knockout punch to our relationship with God. His arm is never too short to reach us, no matter how deep we've fallen. The message is clear: stop hiding in the closet of shame and step into the arms of a Father who loves to restore His children.
