🌍 Davos 2026: Global Fractures and India’s Economic Ascent

from The World Between Us · host Norse Studio

The World Economic Forum is convening for its fifty sixth annual meeting in Davos against a background of major global events including conflicts in Ukraine and the Gaza region along with unrest in parts of Latin America especially in Venezuela. The theme of the summit focuses on the spirit of dialogue within a fragmented world for five days. India is presenting a very strong front with its largest delegation to date. This group includes central leaders and representatives from ten different Indian states including Maharashtra and Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh who are looking to attract international investors and showcase growth potential. This push comes as economic outlooks show a cautiously evolving global economy where South Asia remains one of the most optimistic regions for growth.President Donald Trump is making his first appearance at the summit in six years. He is expected to deliver a keynote speech that focuses on domestic concerns despite the international setting. He is accompanied by at least five cabinet members showing the high political stakes of the event. Ahead of the meeting the President invited the Indian Prime Minister to join his Board of Peace initiative which seeks to resolve global conflicts starting with the situation in Gaza. This happens while a tariff tussle between India and the United States remains unresolved.Geopolitical tensions are also high regarding the issue of Greenland. The President has threatened tariffs on European countries that support Denmark and Greenland because he wants the territory for national security. These trade discussions also impact India which has been called a very high tariff country by the President. The international community is closely watching for a decision from the United States Supreme Court regarding the validity of these tariffs. Leaders from France and Germany and Finland and North Atlantic Treaty Organization member countries like Canada and Spain are also present to discuss these significant geopolitical and economic shifts.
