DawgmanRadio: Breaking Down the Coaches and Players' Thoughts Heading Into the Portland State Game
from Dawgman Radio: A Washington Huskies athletics podcast · host 247Sports, Washington Huskies, Washington football, Washington Huskies athletics, Football, Baseball
The guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds, Chris Fetters, and Scott Eklund - sat down this week after talking to the Washington players and coaches to assess not only what they made of UW's 45-20 win over Kent State, but also what the players and coaches were focusing on as they prepared to take on Big Sky foe Portland State Saturday afternoon at Husky Stadium. We all know what happened the last time Washington hosted a Big Sky opponent and it wasn't pretty. The Dawgman guys asked some of the players and coaches about guarding against letting up or mentally assuming they've already won the game before it has started simply because UW is from the FBS and Portland State is from the FCS.In the first part of the discussion, the guys broke down their observations after speaking with Head Coach Kalen DeBoer, Offensive Coordinator Ryan Grubb, and co-Defensive Coordinator William Inge. The second part had to do with the conversations that revolved around the players and what they felt went right against Kent State, what went wrong against the Golden Flashes, and how to make sure they took advantage of the fact that the greatest improvement for a team in college football takes place between week one and week two. After a quick break to pay some bills, the Dawgman guys wrap it up with their thoughts after speaking this week with some of the Washington coaches, and how they felt like their respective position groups fared during the Kent State win, as well as what they need to work on to make sure their '1-0' mentality continues to reap rewards this coming weekend. The guys give their final thoughts on what they heard, and Kim also provides a quick men's basketball update after checking out a couple of players that happened to be practicing at Hec Ed this week.
