DawgmanRadio: Fall Practice Day One Wrap-Up And Some Realignment Talk

from Dawgman Radio: A Washington Huskies athletics podcast · host 247Sports, Washington Huskies, Washington football, Washington Huskies athletics, Football, Baseball

The Washington Huskies took the field for their first day of fall camp under sunny skies and 70 degree temps. The guys from Dawgman.com were there and following the two-hour practice, they sat down to put a bow on what they saw. They discussed how efficient the offense looked and how Michael Penix Jr. looked like he was in mid-season form.Following that, they took a look at the tailbacks and discussed the battle between Cameron Davis, Dillon Johnson, Will Nixon, Sam Adams, Daniyel Ngata and Tybo Rogers and who looks like the most-ready to take over for Wayne Taulapapa.Johnson was getting his first significant reps since arriving in the spring. He definitely looks the part, but two of the guys felt that Davis had set himself apart from the rest and is the clear favorite to start at the tailback position. They then turned their attention to the wide receiver group and discussed how players like Germie Bernard and Denzel Boston would likely be starting at several programs in the country, but both are likely to see limited targets this fall with Rome Odunze, Jalen McMillan and Ja'Lynn Polk demanding a lot of attention. Throw in three talented freshmen and the Huskies are in great shape for the forseeable future in the receiver corps.Moving over to the defensive side of the ball, the guys talked about the move of Voi Tunuufi to EDGE and how he looked along with the rest of the room, including Bralen Trice and Zion Tupuola-Fetui, Lance Holtzclaw and Milton Hopkins Jr.They also looked at the depth along the defensive line and linebacker and gave an early look at the secondary where Elijah Jackson and Jabbar Muhammad look to be the leading candidates to man the corner spots once the season gets underway in September.
