DawgmanRadio: Pac-12 Media Deal, Realignment, and the start of UW Fall Camp

from Dawgman Radio: A Washington Huskies athletics podcast · host 247Sports, Washington Huskies, Washington football, Washington Huskies athletics, Football, Baseball

The guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds, Chris Fetters, and Scott Eklund - met up in person for the first time since the end of spring football to hash out the latest news coming out of the Pac-12, and it's been a busy few days. Gone is Colorado, and now reports have Pac-12 Commissioner George Kliavkoff set to announce the parameters of a new media deal to the conference members within the next 48 hours. So what to make of all the news? In the first half of the 40-minute podcast, Kim and Chris give their thoughts on Colorado leaving, what a new media rights deal may accomplish in the short term, and whether or not the Pac-12 will add a member to get back to 10 for the start of the 2024 season, or expand even further. Scott joins in at the end of the discussion to give his thoughts and then the guys move right into Washington fall camp, which is set to begin Wednesday morning. They give their initial thoughts on the quarterback and running back positions, with emphasis on the news that the Huskies picked up a brand-new quarterback recently in former SDSU signal-caller Will Haskell, who will have to sit out the 2023 season per transfer rules. After a short break to pay a few bills, the guys come back with the things they are excited to look forward to when camp breaks Wednesday morning. With special emphasis on the offensive line and defensive backfield, Chris and Scott talk about the position battles they are curious about, as well as the players they want to see step up and take starting roles. After that, Kim gives us his cliff's notes from Pac-12 Media Day, including his conversations with USC linebacker Mason Cobb (who played alongside current UW DB Jabbar Muhammad at Oklahoma State), former UW DE Laiatu Latu, now at UCLA, and former UW assistant coach Justin Wilcox, now head coach at California. The guys then give their final thoughts heading into fall camp to close out the podcast.
