DawgmanRadio: Recapping a busy few days

from Dawgman Radio: A Washington Huskies athletics podcast · host 247Sports, Washington Huskies, Washington football, Washington Huskies athletics, Football, Baseball

The guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds, Chris Fetters, and Scott Eklund - emerged from their holiday slumber to get behind the mic and talk about the latest comings and goings on Montlake. And on Monday, the news was worth talking about: UW OL Jaxson Kirkland announced via Twitter that he would be returning to the Huskies for one more season. On top of Luke Wattenberg’s earlier announcement that he would be returning too, it means (as of now) Washington will return their entire OL for the 2021 season.During this part of the calendar, it’s the time when decisions are made. And when guys decide to stay, others decide to leave. Three Washington quarterbacks - Jacob Sirmon, Ethan Garbers, and grad transfer Kevin Thomson - all are leaving, which means UW has only one scholarship quarterback currently on campus - Dylan Morris. The Dawgman guys talk about the surprise of Garbers putting his name in the portal, and how the coaches will address going out and finding new bodies to replace the old ones. There was also some great UW news Monday on the other side of the ball, as Zion Tupuola-Fetui was named to the Associated Press All-America third team. He was one of only three players from the Pac-12 to make the AP All-America lists. After a quick break to help pay for Kim’s wine budget, the Dawgman guys discuss the latest coaching news that has connections to UW. Former Head Coach Steve Sarkisian won the Broyles Award, given to college football’s top assistant coach. Will he stay at Alabama, or move on to become a head coach once again? Or will he look to the NFL?And how will Boise State’s recent head coaching opening affect UW? There’s a handful of Husky assistant coaches with ties to BSU, so could they move back to Boise when a new head coach is hired? And will it be Kellen Moore, or Andy Avalos? Or will they hire an athletic director first before engaging in a head coaching search?
