Dawn Chorus - Spring 2020
from St Mary's Church Richmond North Yorkshire · host St Mary's Church Richmond
This is something quite different and probably best listened to on headphones - partly because it is generally relatively quiet and to cut down external noise. The recording is of the Spring Dawn Chorus at the top end of the Vale of York. Originally over two and a half hours it has been edited down to a bit under 30 minutes. The editing tries to cut human source sounds such as trains and shotgun/bird scarer reports. It starts very quietly with silent intervals and never gets very loud. The loudest sounds are the alarm calls of blackbirds and pheasants. Towards the end the sound settles into the general sound of morning birdsong. How many birds can you identify? A a good listen for those with insomnia?
