Day 158 James Knows | Proverbs 14:19-20

from Wisdom for the Day - Standing Strong · host Rick Yuhas

Send us Fan MailJames Knows 19 Evil people will bow before good people;     the wicked will bow at the gates of the godly.20 The poor are despised even by their neighbors,     while the rich have many “friends.”Verse 19This is not our experience today. Solomon is describing what should happen. Really, a good man is important. He is even more important than a famous person, or a king. People should respect him.Verse 20This is terrible! People love a rich man, because they want to benefit from his money. People hate a poor man, because he has nothing to give to them. Christians must not behave like this. See James 2:1-7.Verse 19 describes how creation should work ratherthan how it actually works.Verse 20 describes how creation actually works, not howit should work.Listen to this: Listen how James describes how the differencesbetween rich and poor should be handled in Chapter Two.My brothers, don’t hold the faith of our Lord JesusChrist of glory with partiality. 2For if a man with a gold ring,in fine clothing, comes into your synagogue, and a poorman in filthy clothing also comes in; 3and you pay specialattention to him who wears the fine clothing, and say, “Sithere in a good place”; and you tell the poor man, “Standthere,” or “Sit by my footstool”; 4haven’t you shownpartiality among yourselves, and become judges with evilthoughts? 5Listen, my beloved brothers. Didn’t God choosethose who are poor in this world to be rich in faith, andheirs of the Kingdom which he promised to those who lovehim? 6But you have dishonored the poor man. Don’t therich oppress you, and personally drag you before thecourts? 7Don’t they blaspheme the honorable name bywhich you are called? 8However, if you fulfill the royal law, according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighboras yourself,” you do well. 9But if you show partiality, youcommit sin.If you want daily truth in a raw, simple format… come follow us on TikTok at Wisdom for the Day — RAW.Real truth.
