Day 18: Obedience in Relationships

“Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them.” That line from Romans 12 isn’t a sweet quote for a wall art print, it’s a standard for how we show up when relationships get messy, tense, or simply tiring. I’m Nicole Hubb, and Day 18 of 31 Days of Obedience is a short devotional with a big assignment: let obedience shape the way we love people.I read Romans 12:9–18 in full because the Scripture does the heavy lifting. We talk about genuine affection, honoring others, staying patient in trouble, practicing hospitality, blessing people who hurt us, and refusing the cycle of payback. If you’ve been asking God for better Christian relationships, deeper faith, and more peace in your home, this passage gives language and direction. I also press into a hard but freeing truth: success in the kingdom of God is obeying God. When we do all we can to live at peace with everyone, we can release the outcome to our good Father.Then I offer a reflection question that changes everything: what’s your favorite attribute of God, and are you being that for others? Mercy, faithfulness, patience, kindness, justice, compassion, whichever you admire most, that’s what you’re invited to give away. I close with a practical obedience step to honor someone you’re in relationship with, plus a prayer that starts where it matters most: loving our closest neighbors, often the people in our own home.
