Day 2021 — Custom GPTs vs Projects: Understanding the Difference and Using Both Properly

from Runpreneur Hosted by Kevin Brittain

Today is day 2021 of my consecutive daily running streak. I have now covered 20,210 kilometres of a 40,075km mission to lap the world on foot, raising £1 million for children's causes along the way. In today's episode I talk about something that has genuinely changed how I run my businesses: the difference between custom GPTs and projects inside ChatGPT, and how to use both of them to maximum effect. Projects are workspaces. They hold large amounts of information, they are shared internally with your team, and they build context and memory over time. I use one to store all of my standard operating procedures, which my team can access and query at any point. Custom GPTs are tools. They are designed for specific, repeatable tasks and can be shared externally via a simple link. I use one to produce SOPs in a consistent format without starting from scratch each time. Neither works as well as it should without a master prompt — a foundational document that gives your AI real context about who you are, what you do, and how you work. I explain how to build one using the AI itself. I am still learning this as I go. But understanding this distinction has made a measurable difference to my output, and I think it will for you too. One kilometre. One episode. One day at a time. #ChatGPT #AIforBusiness #customGPT #consistencymatters #ukrunnerscommunity #runnerslifestyle #ultrarunninglife #runformentalhealth #strava #stravarun #Insta360 #vibramfivefingers
