DAY 203: Isaiah 28–30

from Five Minute Bible Hosted by Kendall Lankford

DAY 203: Isaiah 28–30 Judah has watched Israel trust idols, kings, wealth, Egypt, and Assyria until every false refuge failed, yet now Judah begins repeating the same mistake. Isaiah 28–30 confronts leaders who mock God’s Word, trust political schemes, seek protection from Egypt, and imagine they can build shelters strong enough to survive judgment. But the Lord exposes every refuge of lies and lays something better in Zion: a tested and precious cornerstone. The one who trusts in Him will not be shaken. Isaiah’s call is strikingly simple: “In repentance and rest you will be saved; in quietness and trust is your strength.” Judah prefers horses, alliances, frantic activity, and visible guarantees, but none of them can bear the weight of salvation. Still, the Lord waits to be gracious. Ultimately, these chapters point directly to Jesus Christ, the cornerstone rejected by human builders but chosen by God. Wealth cannot defeat death, politics cannot erase guilt, strategy cannot outrun judgment, and religious performance cannot cleanse the heart. Christ alone is the refuge strong enough to hold sinners when every other shelter collapses.
