The kingdom divides, and Rehoboam strengthens Judah's defenses but later forsakes God's law. Shishak of Egypt attacks, and Rehoboam humbles himself, averting total destruction. In 1 Corinthians, Paul encourages believers to pursue love and seek gifts that build up the church, especially prophecy. He contrasts speaking in tongues without interpretation, which edifies oneself, with prophecy that edifies the church.
