In today’s Wisdom Nugget, we will journey into God’s Word. In this episode, we’ll continue our exploration of Psalm 40, focusing on verses 9 through 12 from the New Living Translation. In these verses, David shifts his focus from personal praise and thanksgiving to sharing God’s goodness with others and seeking God’s mercy in the face of overwhelming challenges. This passage is a beautiful blend of gratitude, proclamation, and dependence on God, offering profound lessons for our faith journey. Let’s begin by reading the passage together: Psalm 40:9-12 (NLT) 9 I have told all Your people about Your justice. I have not been afraid to speak out, as You, O Lord, well know. 10 I have not kept the good news of Your justice hidden in my heart; I have talked about Your faithfulness and saving power. I have told everyone in the great assembly of Your unfailing love and faithfulness. 11 Lord, don’t hold back Your tender mercies from me. Let Your unfailing love and faithfulness always protect me. 12 For troubles surround me— too many to count! My sins pile up so high I can’t see my way out. They outnumber the hairs on my head. I have lost all courage. Proclaiming God’s Justice and Faithfulness (Verses 9-10): David begins this section with a bold declaration of his commitment to sharing God’s justice and faithfulness: “I have told all Your people about Your justice. I have not been afraid to speak out, as You, O Lord, well know.” David isn’t content to keep his experiences with God to himself—he feels compelled to tell others about God’s righteousness and saving power. In verse 10, David continues, “I have not kept the good news of Your justice hidden in my heart; I have talked about Your faithfulness and saving power. I have told everyone in the great assembly of Your unfailing love and faithfulness.” These verses emphasize the importance of openly declaring God’s goodness. David doesn’t just whisper his gratitude in private—he proclaims it publicly, ensuring that others can be encouraged and inspired by what God has done. This is a reminder for us as well. Our faith isn’t meant to be a private affair. When God works in our lives, it’s an opportunity to testify to His greatness, so others might see His hand at work and be drawn to Him. Would they keep their gratitude to themselves, or would they share the story with others, highlighting the hero who saved them? David’s proclamation is like that.
