Mark introduces Jesus' ministry through John the Baptist, Jesus' baptism, and His temptation in the wilderness. Jesus announces that God's kingdom has drawn near, calls His first disciples, heals the sick, casts out demons, and forgives sins. As His authority becomes increasingly evident, opposition from religious leaders grows, especially over His healing on the Sabbath and His challenge to their understanding of God's purposes.
