Day 288: Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary
from Saints in a Year · host The Road to Damascus with Saul
Today we celebrate the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the ancient Christian belief solemnly defined by Pope Pius XII in 1950 that, at the completion of her earthly life, Mary was assumed body and soul into heavenly glory. The Assumption is not only about Mary's extraordinary privilege. It points toward the destiny God promises to His people through Jesus Christ and reminds us of our hope in the resurrection of the body.Scripture"For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive."1 Corinthians 15:22Thought to Remember"My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior."Luke 1:46–47Mary never made her life about herself. She magnified God. The Assumption reminds us that humility does not make our lives smaller. When we surrender ourselves completely to God, He can lead us toward a glory greater than anything we could have created for ourselves.PrayerBlessed Virgin Mary, assumed body and soul into heavenly glory, help us to keep our eyes fixed on your Son. Teach us to say yes to God, to live with the hope of the resurrection, and to remain faithful until the end.Our Lady of the Assumption, pray for us. Amen. Please like, comment, share, and subscribe to @TravelingtoDamascus as we continue our journey through the saints and great celebrations of the Catholic faith, one day at a time.#Assumption #AssumptionOfMary #BlessedVirginMary #VirginMary #SaintsInAYear #TheRoadToDamascus #Catholic #CatholicFaith #MotherMary #MarianFeast
