Day 291 of the Holy Bible One Year CHALLENGE. Jeremiah is tossed into a muddy cistern for his unpopular prophecies, but an official, Ebed-melech, persuades King Zedekiah to pull him out. Then, Zedekiah secretly meets Jeremiah, seeking God's guidance, but still hesitates to follow through. The Babylonians finally capture Jerusalem, and while many are taken as captives, Jeremiah is freed and treated kindly. Nebuzaradan, the Babylonian commander, tells Jeremiah he can stay in Judah or come to Babylon. Jeremiah chooses to stay with the Judean remnant. Paul lays out the criteria for church leaders.
