Jesus is condemned by Pilate, mocked, crucified, and buried, even as the temple curtain is torn in two. A Roman centurion recognises something extraordinary in His death, and women who followed Jesus witness where He is laid. On the first day of the week, the women discover the empty tomb and hear that Jesus has risen. The resurrection transforms the meaning of the cross and becomes the foundation of the message His followers are called to proclaim.
