Jesus is born in Bethlehem, and angels announce His birth to shepherds, who visit Him and spread the news. At the temple, Simeon and Anna recognise God's promised salvation, and the young Jesus later amazes teachers with His understanding. Luke then introduces John the Baptist's ministry of repentance and preparation, before recording Jesus' baptism and genealogy, establishing His identity and His place in God's unfolding purposes.
