Day 308 | Ezekiel acts out God's coming wrath | Hebrews 5: Do not fall away

Day 308 of the Holy Bible One Year CHALLENGE. Ezekiel 4-6 tells the tale of Ezekiel doing some serious performance art to show Israel's impending doom. He lies on his side for hundreds of days, bakes bread over cow dung, and even shaves his head as a dramatic way to say, "Hey, bad times are coming because of all the bad stuff you've done." The people have been off worshiping idols and forgetting their roots, and now they're going to pay the price. God's pretty upset, to put it mildly, and is ready to hand out some serious divine discipline, like a parent who's found their kid drawing on the walls with permanent marker.In Hebrews 5:11-6:12, the writer is basically saying, “Listen up, I have a lot to say about this Jesus-being-a-high-priest business, but it's tough because you're slow to catch on.” He's nudging the readers to grow up in their faith, move beyond the basic teachings about Christ, and dig into the meatier stuff. There's a bit of a warning too – if you fall away after tasting the good stuff God has offered, it's as hard to come back as it is for a scorched field to be green again.
