Day 44: In the Beginning

Yesterday we summarized the story of the tower of Babel and asked some questions about it. What did they do wrong? Why is God displeased that they are working together in this way? Well, let me start by noting that it’s not wrong to build a city. Later we will see God telling people to build cities. God loves the city. Remember, heaven is described as one. Nor is there anything wrong with working together – it is generally encouraged. And for that matter, it is not wrong to build a tower, even a tall tower, although you might be in trouble if you set out to build the tallest tower. That is going to depend.
