Day 49: 2 Samuel 1-5

Even though Saul had hunted him for years, David refuses to celebrate his enemy’s fall. Instead, he grieves deeply. His response shows the heart of a king who honors God’s authority rather than taking vengeance.David is first crowned king over Judah, while the rest of Israel follows Saul’s son Ish-bosheth. After years of tension and conflict, the tribes finally unite under David’s leadership. Then David captures Jerusalem and establishes it as the capital, marking the beginning of a new era for Israel.What we see in these chapters is the fulfillment of God’s promise unfolding slowly and patiently. David does not seize power; he receives it in God’s time.These chapters remind us that God’s promises often unfold through long seasons of waiting and faithfulness.
