Day 50: 2 Samuel 6-10

The moment is joyful but also sobering when Uzzah dies after touching the ark, reminding Israel that God’s holiness cannot be treated casually.Then in chapter 7, God makes a covenant with David. David wants to build a house for the Lord, but God turns the promise around and says He will build a house for David. The Lord promises that David’s throne will be established forever. This covenant becomes the foundation for Israel’s hope of a coming king.The following chapters show David’s kingdom expanding through victories and acts of kindness, including his surprising mercy toward Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan.These chapters show a king ruling with both strength and grace. But the promise of an eternal throne reaches far beyond David himself.
