Armies are struck with blindness, and unseen heavenly forces surround God’s people. Even in moments of siege and famine, the Lord provides in unexpected ways.But the tone shifts as judgment unfolds. Jehu is anointed as king and carries out God’s judgment against the house of Ahab. The destruction is thorough and violent, fulfilling what the Lord had spoken through Elijah. Yet even Jehu, who begins by obeying God’s command, does not fully turn from the sins of Jeroboam.These chapters show that God’s Word always comes to pass, whether in salvation or in judgment.
