Day 93 Difficult Truths | Mark 10:32-34

from Wisdom for the Day - Standing Strong · host Rick Yuhas

Send us Fan MailEver notice how quickly we change the subject when conversations get uncomfortable? Today's reflection from Mark 10:32-34 highlights this all-too-human tendency as Jesus leads His disciples toward Jerusalem. The scene is striking - Jesus walks ahead with determination while His followers trail behind, filled with awe and fear. For the third time, He plainly tells them what awaits Him: betrayal, mockery, torture, death, and resurrection. No sugarcoating, no euphemisms. Yet rather than engaging with these difficult truths, the disciples avoid the subject entirely.Sound familiar? We do this constantly. Families sidestep conversations about finances, addiction, health problems, and strained relationships. We distract ourselves with trivialities rather than addressing what truly matters. This avoidance may feel protective in the moment, but it prevents us from living authentically.Jesus models a radically different approach. He faces His suffering head-on, not because He welcomes pain, but because He understands its purpose. His courage wasn't about fearlessness—it was about walking forward despite knowing exactly what hardships awaited Him. And He did it all for us.Today, consider what difficult reality you've been avoiding. A tough conversation? A necessary decision? A painful truth? Whatever your "Jerusalem" might be, ask God for the courage to face it directly, trusting His presence through every step of the journey. When we follow Jesus' example of courageous honesty, we discover that God meets us precisely in those places we've been most afraid to go.Subscribe to Wisdom for the Day for daily spiritual insights that will help you face life's challenges with faith and courage. What difficult conversation will you have the courage to start today? If you want daily truth in a raw, simple format… come follow us on TikTok at Wisdom for the Day — RAW.Real truth. Real moments.
