Recife Brazil De stad Recife is terug te vinden in het Guinness Book of Records. Dit, vanwege de Galo da Madrugada, de Haan des Dageraads, een carnavalsgroep opgericht in 1978, die sinds 1994 het grootste carnaval ter wereld organiseert. Elke zaterdag van carnaval gaat de groep met ruim twee miljoen mensen de straat op in een parade die hier zijn apotheose heeft, aan de Avenida Guararapes, waar we ons nu bevinden.
