Ambient piece inspired by the king of board games — and the only one I’ve ever really played: chess. Inspired by J.L. Borges’ poems Ajedrez I & II, where the chessboard becomes a battlefield, I wanted to give this piece a quietly epic atmosphere. Two first-take improvisations: electric bass, processed through my pedalboard, followed by a piano improvisation over it. A simple, spontaneous piece. Composed and performed by DD.
