Dead Show/podcast for 1/3/14

This week we stretch out the New Year festivities with a really BIG Deadpod featuring the 2nd and 3rd sets from the NYE show of 1979-80. This is a very long show, so I suppose that we  might forgive Jerry for getting lost occasionally.. he more than makes up for it on some really excellent numbers in these two sets.  The boys' ring in the new year with, as often the case, Bill Graham's favorite, Sugar Magnolia.. and you can imagine the bedlam with the countdown and balloon drop.. They then play a very nice 2nd set, highlighted with a lovely Ship of Fools and an excellent Deal. The real treats here happen in set 3, with a long Althea to open, followed by a wonderful Uncle John's Band.. The boys really get cooking on the Not Fade Away. Jerry does some amazing things during Stella Blue, and they close the set with the first Sunshine Daydream in a year..
