Dead Show/podcast for 12/7/18

from The Deadpod

This week the Deadpod will take you back to December 4th 1990 at the Oakland County Coliseum for a fine show that showcased the energy that Bruce Hornsby brought to the band when he joined them after the death of Brent Mydland. Highlights here for me include the Mississippi Half-Step and a wonderful Bird Song. While 'Walkin' Blues' is on no ones list of favorites, it is balanced out by a great set closing 'Valley Road'. I wish the band  would've chosen to practice some of these Hornsby tunes, I know that was one of Bruce's frustrations that led him to leave later on, but this one is spot on and has some great energy.     Grateful Dead Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Arena Oakland, CA 12/4/90 - Tuesday One - [1:10:58]   Jack Straw [5:38] ; Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodleloo [8:46] > Walkin' Blues [5:44] ; Candyman [6:24] ; Me And My Uncle [3:08] > Big River [5:36] ; Brown Eyed Women [4:46] ; When I Paint My Masterpiece [5:02] ; Bird Song [12:26] ; Valley Road [4:57]   You can listen to this week's Deadpod here: http://traffic.libsyn.com/deadshow/deadpod120718.mp3   Peace to all of you this holiday season and thanks for listening and your support.
