Dealing With Sins Part 3 2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. 1. Sin is our problem not Gods a. Gods order is life and peace, we chose the opposite – Gen 1:31, 2:16-17, 3:6 b. We are born sinners in Adam – Gen 5:3, Job 14:1-4, psalms 51:5, c. It’s who we are – Rom 5:12, Gen 6:5, Jer 17:9, Eph 2:2-3, Rom 3:10,23 d. Satan is often blamed for our sin “Satan made me do it” - Eph 2:2-3, 2. There are consequences to our sin a. One persons sin can affect others - Adam and Eve, David & Bath-Sheba’s adultery Killed Uriah – 2Sam 11:15-17 , Herods pride killing babies – Matthew 2:16. b. Bad things happen in the world because of Sin c. There is a judgement for our sin and wickedness – Psalms 51:4, psalms 96:13, Rom 2:5-6, Rev 19:11, 20:11-15. d. There is a penalty – Rom 5:12, 6:23, Heb 9:27 4. Christ is the answer for our sin a. There has to be payment for sins, this is a biblical principle – Gen 3:21, Lev 4:1-4, 13-15, Heb 10:1, 11-14. b. Christ paid the penalty for all sins – Mark 15:36-47, Rom 5:6-8, 1Cor 15:3. Rom 3:25. c. Christ death is what allows you to have forgiveness and reconciliation with God – 1Cor 5:18-21, Col 1:14,20. 3. Christ is the answer for Sins penalty a. If death is our fate, resurrection is the only resolution. b. Job, Abraham, Psalmist all knew this – Job 14:5-14, Heb 11:17-19, Psalm 49:1-15, c. Death is our enemy – 1Cor 15:26,54-58, Isaiah 25:8, Rev 20:14 d. He became man to taste death for us – 2Cor 5:21, Phil 2:6-8 e. He only tasted death because he defeated it through resurrection – Rev 1:17-18, Rom 6:9, 2Tim 1:9-10, 1Cor 15:4,19-25 f. Not just resurrection, but resurrection to eternal life – Rom 6:23, John 11:43-44, 12:9-11. g. With a new body – 1Cor 15:35-49 5. This is the gospel and our hope a. To have the hope of eternal life you have to be saved. b. Salvation comes by grace through faith in the death and resurrection of Christ – Eph 2:8-9, Rom 4:16-25, 3:23-25. c. In Christ we have hope – Titus 3:4-7, 1Thess 4:13-18, Col 1:27, d. Sin is our biggest problem because it’s end is death, no man can buy or earn eternal life. That can only come through Jesus Christ. We need to only trust him. e.
