Deana Ramsey is the principal for the Philadelphia Juvenile Justice Services Center (PJJSC), a public high school in Philadelphia that serves persons aged 10-21 who were allegedly charged with a crime. Their mission is to provide personalized learning for each student to achieve credits toward completing the Pennsylvania requirements for their High School Diploma, GED, and Post-Secondary Success for the 21st Century learner. Deana is a thirty-year educator, Philadelphia native, and visionary leader in education. She is a fierce advocate for equity and social justice. She’s the winner of the prestigious 2018 Lindback Principal Award and the current 2025-26 recipient of the Committed to Education Award from the Schoolmen's Club of Philadelphia. Deana joins the show to talk about the initiatives of PJJSC, what they’re doing to improve the mental health of its students, and some misconceptions people may have about PJJSC.
