What happens when the Gospel confronts a culture filled with distractions, idols, competing ideas, and misplaced worship?In Acts 17, Paul travels through Thessalonica, Berea, and Athens, boldly proclaiming Jesus and the resurrection. From riots and opposition to the intellectual marketplace of Athens, Paul continues to bring the truth of the Gospel wherever God sends him.But Acts 17 also forces us to look inward.The Athenians had an altar dedicated “to an unknown god.” Obie and Adam take that idea and ask a difficult question: Who or what do we worship today?Our idols may not look like statues of Greek gods. They can look like careers, possessions, status, sports, entertainment, relationships, comfort, success, or even our own identity. Sometimes the things we worship aren't obvious to us at all.The conversation moves from idols to sin, repentance, pride, accountability, and surrender. The guys talk openly about the importance of bringing hidden sin into the light rather than allowing it to grow in secrecy. They also explore what Jesus meant when He said to deny ourselves, take up our cross, and follow Him.And there is good news in the middle of all of it:We don't have to clean ourselves up before coming to Jesus.We bring our sin, shame, doubts, fears, and brokenness to Him.
