Dear Middle School Me & You & Everyone Else - A rant plus a letter

from Latin in Layman’s - A Rhetoric Revolution · host Liam Connerly

Dear Middle School Me, I know things are tough right now. You're feeling lost, alone, and like you don't belong. You're struggling with your weight, your grades, and your social life. You feel like you're not good enough, and you're starting to wonder if you'll ever amount to anything. I'm writing to you from the future, and I want you to know that it gets better. You're going to go through a lot of ups and downs, but you're going to come out stronger on the other side. You're going to learn that your weight doesn't define you. You're going to find a group of friends who love and accept you for who you are. You're going to find your passion in life, and you're going to achieve your goals. But most importantly, you're going to learn what it means to be a man. You're going to learn that strength isn't about being big or tough. It's about being kind, compassionate, and empathetic. It's about standing up for what you believe in, even when it's hard. You're going to make mistakes, and you're going to hurt people. But you're also going to learn from your mistakes, and you're going to grow as a person. I know it's hard to see it right now, but you're going to be okay. You're going to live a full and happy life. I love you, Your Future Self P.S. Here are a few poems I wrote for you: The Strength of a Man A man is not defined by his size, Or by his strength or his might. A man is defined by his heart, And by the things he does right. A man is kind and compassionate, He stands up for what he believes. He is a protector and a provider, He is a friend to all he meets. So if you ever feel like you're not enough, Just remember the strength of a man. It is not found in size or strength, But in the heart of a good man. Empathy Empathy is the ability to understand and share the feelings of another. It is the ability to put yourself in someone else's shoes, And to see the world from their perspective. Empathy is a powerful force, It can bring people together, And it can make the world a better place. So if you want to make a difference in the world, Start by developing your empathy. Learn to understand and share the feelings of others, And you will be well on your way to making the world a better place. Strength in the Face of Adversity Life is full of challenges, But it is also full of opportunities. The key to success is to never give up, No matter how tough things get. When you face adversity, Don't let it defeat you. Use it as an opportunity to grow, And to become a stronger person. Remember, you are not alone. We all face challenges in life, But we can overcome them together. So never give up, Keep fighting, And never lose sight of your dreams.
