DEATH: Dying to Self to Live

Dying to self is a TRUTH that is found throughout the Bible. It involves putting aside our own selfish desires and living a life that is found in releasing the Holy Spirit from within - that is focused on serving God and others.Dying to self brings numerous benefits to our spiritual lives. It allows us to experience true freedom from the bondage of our selfish wants and desires. It opens the door for personal growth and transformation as we set aside our lives and release Christ’s Life. Dying to self also brings us closer to God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit and enables us to experience His love, joy, and peace in greater measure.In order to die to self, we must first recognize that our natural inclination is to obey our flesh and put ourselves first. We must then make a conscious effort to put Jesus and others before ourselves. This involves surrendering our own will and desires to the Holy Spirit and allowing Him to work in us and through us.Here are some Bible verses that highlight the importance of dying to self:“Then Jesus said to his disciples, ‘Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me’” (Matthew 16:24).“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me” (Galatians 2:20).“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit.
