Yeah, you know What's like he's only three years old right?
So be honest, you're the game's cook up. They make them crazy Yeah, we get a lot of fights after like you know, it's like no, maybe him and his mom, you know, okay I just think you're walking up like with a lawyer and be like father. I would like to The reality of it is is like you know turning off a show turning off anything It depends you know where you're at how tired he is how hungry is stuff like that or whatever so you'll get the pushback And maybe I don't want to but like video games anytime we try to stop it You can do I've done it so we're setting a timer for five minutes after this level whatever lots of time shutting them down He has a big it's a big emotion Like we keep doing it because you got it you know As for as much as they mean for me and how much he loves them and obviously I'm looking for Jen too But like I want to make sure we can get to a good place with it So it's like you gotta be ready some time relationship with a tea turegulation Exactly. Oh, yes, it was a good shut down on it But um no we did our normal thing we started up.
Do you want PlayStation you want to switch you want to switch? Okay, we jump to my operation Huh regulation? Yeah, fucking same Who cares you I Regulate the show again. I always got this along walk.
I so we got to play with our normal things He loves loves loves Pico Park to not who doesn't fucking really hard Play but he does the mini games with a lot of mini games yesterday and he was like, okay, I want to Mario So we went and we did Mario wonder he's been around all the Mario blocks But Mario Odyssey had finally downloaded so he jumped into Mario Odyssey was playing that and he likes you shoot himself back And the lightning rods and do dog city I'm a little pet out there he was hiding balloons for people to find he was having a great time So I like to update you all the Mario's he continues to play I'm not a problem. We're an 11 person business all about live talk shows I already got kind of funny games daily that was Andy Mike and Greg for a little bit breaking down the last of us season 2 trailer After this you're gonna get the kind of funny podcast.
It's all about Greg's trip to Boston to film a movie And then after that it's the continuation of Nick's Pokemon and does lock adventure Eddie you were here for about 12 hours What was that like on Friday? It was awesome. It was thrilling. There was many moments where it's like all right We lost focus there a little too much making dumb jokes and that that fucking Scyther was overpowered and in that moment could have easily killed your dude had they not like a Like you can't holy shit.
We could have lost it all like right there So so far no deaths in our permanent Wow, but like we were really really close to the fun the comment that made me laugh the most was like Nick's mild illiteracy Really brings like a level of excitement to the stream because if you just like reads words, you know Like a little wrong like what we can sir. Yeah, yeah that too Yeah, or you know just not reading types or whatever But for example one of them that made me laugh the most him and I'm definitely gonna embellish the story But he kept on saying like you know what we're early on with the game and he doesn't know where to go And he goes yeah, but that tower is full of ghosts. I saw this the towers full of souls. It has like ghosts Spirits spirits our it's full of ghosts and like I can't you know and he read it from last knows lock of like normal moves Don't do anything on ghost types.
So I was like wow probably there anybody kept on saying yeah like go It's a spirit tower. I can't go to spirit our full spirits and the you know, there's gonna be gas He's all sorts of stuff and then We finally we finally read the sign 30 minutes later after him trying to find out where to go because he's like a Can't be this direction finally read the sign and said sprout tower Because it's the bell sprout tower and I was saying go to the bell sprout tower And I said oh spirits and he goes oh I thought that's it's weird And so now we kind of knew where to go and obviously there are some spirits in the bell sprout tower But it's mostly a bunch of bell sprouts. Yeah, so that was a kind of a great way to start the stream had a lot of betrayals You know did Joey buy for Twix bars for all four of us to have and as I'm eating mine Mike goes Give me one of those and I said no man get yours I'm gonna give you one of my two pieces of my twix bar So I decline and Mike gets one and starts eating it and later on Kevin's looking at the desk And he's like I'm like what are you looking at? He's I'm looking for my twix bar I was like well we each got one like each of what's got one Mike goes I ate to Never forget even though Joey gave us I specifically said you each get one such you know Joey's the mom of this car this van full of kids They're seven years old coming over baseball I like great sitting right now looks like he has horns Love it don't forget because I'm the son of Satan oh my god Well, son of a great way later today.
It's a doozy what's it gonna be I don't know that means that I forgot the microphone in my wife's car So I didn't do it in the car and then that screws up my whole day, but it'll be good with the more It'll be great. I'll give you the 15 20 minutes every day. Thank you to our page our producer So Lady, Carl Jacobs and Omega Buster today. We're brought to you by monster hunter now built rewards and stash But we'll tell you all about that later for now.
Let's start with the topic of the show Over the weekends the day of Kojima and France went down to South by Southwest in Austin, Texas Had a very fun panel talking all about Death Stranding to on the beach they debuted a new trailer and the release date Which is June 26 2025 I want to start with you bless real quick. Mm-hmm. That really state. Yeah.
How do you feel about it? I feel good. It's funny because I think we've talked about this quite a bit Especially me and you I think we've happened to line up with the KTVs and like the place is the Data Plays where we've been able to speculate and talk about what our expectations for this were and I feel like my expectations respond on I forget what month I said but I think I said like this is giving me earlier in the year like first half of the year The this happening at South by Southwest right makes sense the way was promoted the way that I kind of let up This was announced like right before the last day to play and I think even then I was like yeah No, this is where we're gonna get the release date So I like that happen this way. I like that Kojima's always finding like what is most Kojima way to do this Hey, I'm gonna hang out with my celebrity friends in South by Southwest.
Cool. Yep. That makes sense It coming out in June awesome right like I think for PlayStation first party stuff you want to be able to have like a sprinkle throughout the year of what that audience can expect and Kojima productions Kind of sits separate from PlayStation productions, but they are making a PlayStation first party game So I think from the first party side They can probably be tough to regulate if you are PlayStation trying to figure out how to paint your calendar But for the fact that they've been able to land here I think works out perfectly right like a first half the year We're gonna get a destination to and then hopefully goes to the Yote we get some time fall Yeah, definitely pleasantly surprised by how early this is like I wasn't too far off But I was pretty sure it was gonna be August someone about that belt right to me But getting there in June I'm very interested in what that means for PlayStation studios with ghost of Yote as well Right, I'm trying to place that hopefully create a little bit of a gap there because I mean last time for gross That was what one month after last was three right two months. Yeah, so really close there.
That's what's part two. Yes. Yes, you said three That's also covid related right that was when everything was like last was Games out so yeah like last was supposed to come out in February originally right and then it like immediately got delayed after that release initial release Greg yeah, that's what we say great. That's a good one I'm glad to start seeing this year firm up, you know We've talked so much about how people are terrified of GTA so it's making everybody very I'm happy to start seeing some things down the road because again This is supposed to be a banger year if everything comes out this was to come out So to see these starts little fine great.
I think June's a good time for it You know summer is usually a quieter period after sgf in terms of big game releases get this out there get people in there Let you digest it I think that's the biggest thing of like you know I enjoy death stranding so much when I play that originally as a meditative experience But I haven't been back to it in forever and so I'm very interested to see how this one's gonna work How it's gonna hit what it's gonna feel like and I'm sure the trailer will answer some of those questions as well You were a different person back. I was no kid I was playing a Quebec City this big old bulldog Larry hanging out with me. Oh, right? That's right.
They're both gone. Yeah, and you surprised that I'm surprised that's running to is gonna be coming out before me older solid Delta Yeah, it's really fascinating. I think that obviously what we'll see here in the trailer with Cojima and just maybe his thoughts and his meta narratives on things should be kind of a fascinating Capture the rest of the start to the rest of the year, right? Well, will you play this do you think while we're at SGF?
Yeah? I mean, we just I always early June, right? Yeah, that sucks. See I think we will probably get it like We're back June 6th.
This is 20 days later. No, yeah, we usually what best case in two weeks of stuff with this Yeah, we did have a decent lead time with that Johnny one when we reviewed that sucker. Yeah, that's a different time Larry and Porti which is I Think it's gonna be a long game right I forget how long that training one was but if this is 40 to 50 hours I mean, I hope we get like three weeks with it It's gonna be if you mainline it probably a 20 plus, you know 30 ish, right? It's what I assume but whenever you want to do everything you want to be building all this bridges I mean, it's gonna be me and Daniel Dweyer again building I always Daniel Dweyer always puts this on the original that's straining 40 and a half hours for me And I will think that this is not having not seen the trailer.
I imagine this game's gonna be bigger We'll be wackier. I would be a death straining leading up to this. You said one how crazy That's the plan for somebody Let's go to the Brian's Further ado, let's get into the deaths are actually wait wait who has seen this yet and Quits has this seen it. I was like one.
I've seen two screen grabs from it. Okay What I would do with Dark Souls 2 yesterday and people were like did you see the new that shine too trailer? I was like no, they're like just drop 20 minutes prior to me going live like holy shit But drop everything let's watch this shit right now. Oh, it's the 10 minute kojima one fuck.
Yeah, dude Yeah, I saw any time I saw a clip pop up on Twitter I saw the clip so I think I've seen all the big things here, but I have not seen that I've seen a dude I've seen like the one dude that I'm making sure I'm like oh interesting It's just a I'm fine to find out how it all comes together. Let's check out the death stranding to 10 minute trailer I'm sorry We're Showing here. You'll see of the legally entering our country on multiple occasions The only thing that I'm guilty of is new your dirty work and by way of compensation. Okay. I'm a new ship rise the target Currents that shake the earth a new challenger has a pretty high-high I'm a serious faction spreads Are really what's the environment on an existing station? What the fuck, man? Everyone remembers when I did my amazing dead man cosplay. Remember from Halloween? Fantastic.
I can tell you right now against Ben Zuilke's gonna need his baby. He's far too large when I'm doing it. What the fuck? What the fuck?
It's a boy who's hunting the kaiju's? Yo, you should cower the goat, man. Yeah. What's this?
The enormous... Roshi? Eww! A lot of hands and his blessings.
Yeah, but I don't mind his... Really? Yeah, I think it's being like the black loopy hands. Oh, okay.
Makes it fun. Wow. They're more realistic and like... Char-line!
Useless jet-pack move. Ha ha ha. Time. I love the good ziplines games.
Yeah. What the hell? I can't wait. Tar Man, George Miller, and Kate.
It's Joy Baker. Tomorrow, I'll tell you. Tomorrow, we're a tall man. The President.
Lucy. You know what the character of the reigning was on the reign? Huh? Neo.
Dr. Deborah Wilson. Got two right hands. Oh, really?
Yeah. Look at weird. You can't be a normal doctor today. That is such a good thing.
You know what I mean? I was telling Chas this whole sequence right here. Every shot is so different, it felt like a... Here's one coming at HBO.
This is... Yeah, yeah, yeah. Six different shows. Yo, this wicked.
This wicked... This wicked... That shit going. Look at the nose tech right here.
Nose tech. Always be with you, no matter what. You will never ever... Ever you.
So how... No, no, no, no. You can't count. You thought I was over that.
No bones about it. No bones in the nose. I'll make a lasting connection with the... Alright, it's being read.
A perfect ending humanity deserves. Ah, no, Troy! I don't like it. I don't like it.
It's so gross. You think the shit's over? Tell them. And the gate's over.
That's the one. You want to walk in space? Let's go out there a little bit. Fuck, I hate creatures hate it.
They hate space travel. No, man. Alright, you might have gone too far. The hands are too much now.
The hands are too much now. They have an update. They're too much. They're like, are their head's hands.
What the fuck? What the hell? Yeah. Your balcony is bad.
No, I've been saying this for years. Fucking little minutes. That was a stream. That was a stream.
Oh my god. It's even more than I expected it to be. There's a few sticks. My encouragement.
Holy shit. The UCA's precursor. The United States of America. Had a prominent gun culture.
A distinctly American philosophy. And one which would appear to have spread to this continent. A more we seek to unite the people with metaphorical ropes. Shut the fuck up.
The more essential. Sticks seem to become- Oh, he's cooking, bro! Drawbridge V on. Editing about it.
He got it. No, he was in it. DHP Magellan. Integrate.
Stop! Talk about it. Talk about Metal Gear. Silent Yeah, you're right.
You're right. You're right. That was a trailer and a half. Nobody does it like a trailer.
Nobody does it like a trailer. He's in his life. This brings me back to the MGS4 days of the big ride and fight. We've never seen before.
This game, it looks like coming off the season on HBO. I don't know if you want to play all of them. You don't even watch all of them shows. But some of them.
Holy crap. This might be the most gorgeous looking business in the game. 100%. The stuff they're doing with the Decimension.
Which is already gorgeous. We already knew that. That's the first one we saw of Norman Reedus on the mountain top. Looking down at all the craggy cliffs.
Holy fuck. That looks amazing. The shots of the moon. Super close to that one.
Where are they? So many different. This doesn't air. Holy crap.
That was your first time seeing this. I was in the trailer. It's almost like the bittersweet thing. For me though.
I almost wish I didn't watch it. I wanted to experience a lot of this stuff for the first time in the game. And obviously, Kuchima does this trailer with all of his games. He does the 10 minute thing.
Let me take you through a bunch of shit. There's still going to be a bunch of shit in the game. I'm not taking this as a... Oh man.
How do you spell anything? Damn. You've shown me so much now. And coming off a Death Stranding One, right?
I think one of the things I was so excited for was the kind of not knowing what the fuck is this game and not believing that it really is a game about delivery. I'm like, oh, this is a game about delivery. Okay, cool. We're connecting the strands.
We're doing all this shit. Man, I think for me, the trailer was a bit overwhelming in all the good ways. Yeah, I'm excited for it. I don't think I can be more excited for this game.
I just think it's really great. I agree. I agree. It's overwhelming.
But I think yeah, it's overwhelming in the right way. I don't think I know what the fuck's going on in this game. And again, one of the reasons I want to go replay Death Stranding is I really don't remember much about what was going on in Death Stranding. I beat that.
I rolled credit as I did the whole damn thing. But I was like, and I remember connecting and I remember, um, Princess Peach and you're Maori. I remember all this stuff, but I need to get back into it to understand the world again and remember exactly what's going on. But I'm also not too worried about that because it's the ride to go on, right?
And see all these vistas and understand what's going on and see what's happening, all these crazy characters that are being introduced and see what swerves he's going to throw our way when you get there. Like, I've intrigued. I'm excited. I think again, the June release date makes a lot of sense for a game like this to go get lost and I figure out what the fuck is happening.
And this wasn't your first time seeing it, but seeing it now multiple times. What are you feeling? I guess I still have like the initial thoughts of when we get that first sequence of the two people at that deposition table or whatever. Immediately, I'm just like, you keep every new trailer has like three new actors in it.
I'm just like, how big could your roles possibly be if like there's always new people being shown to me. And I guess part of me worries about being overwhelmed by what it's trying to do possibly story wise, because I'm just always overwhelmed by what could you be doing story wise, but in a very good way. And yeah, upon watching it again, it's like my fourth time watching it. I'm just so I'm so impressed by what they're doing visually with Decima, what they're doing with like character rendering tech.
And we see that one avalanche sequence, which is awesome. We see a moment where water is rushing and it's clear that it looks like a flood, like a dam has been broken and water is rushing into an area of body water that it didn't belong in. I'm fascinated by what all of those things are hinting at gameplay wise and how we would have to deal with them. Are we experiencing more and more BTS?
We have that one moment where Norman Reedus is sort of doing that slide sort of move with his gun, getting to third person action gameplay and maybe invoking a bit more of the gun violence that they talk about the UCA having and maybe this game being about like, well, we have to kind of fight fire with fire if that's, you know, I don't know. I just, there's a lot of like sequences in this game that look more than just throwing piss grenades at ghosts, you know. But I bet we will still. Oh, it's gonna be piss grenade.
Yeah, it's funny playing Death's Randing One. I think some of the sections that I didn't love the most gameplay wise were the Super Action E sections because the game's built way more around just the delivery and the walking around. No one you get there and I'm like, oh shit, there's weapons. Oh shit, I got a shoot.
It almost fell out of place. I think I'm looking back on that right now. That feels like such. I remember the walking.
I mean, I remember the fights, but I remember them being like, oh, yeah, what? Like, that's not what this game is. Yeah, exactly. And so I'm hoping that with the commentary of, all right, we should never have connected, like, you know, this being a successor, the UCA being a successor to the USA and having this commentary about, you know, this country's obsession with guns and how that's gonna feed into the reaction that we're having now of being connected and being like, oh shit, we actually now have to fight back.
I wonder if we're gonna lean more into that into action or if it's gonna be a similar kind of thing of Death's Randing One of like, oh, here's some action sections sprinkled in. I hope there's a better balance right there. I hope that when we get to those action sections, they feel a bit more thought out now, a bit more engaging on the action side. I mean, it seems like we're getting a lot more action, right?
Like I even when I tried giving this another shot a couple months ago, I didn't make it that far in, but I the few action scenes that I based on with last words, like didn't feel built for that. But that's not the point of it. Look at this trailer. This seems, I mean, might be far to say majority action, but there's a lot of different types of action scene like the motorcycle chase, the kaiju fights, like all of it, like does see it in the gun stuff.
Do you guys think this is going to be a pretty radically different game play wise? No, I think it'll be an evolution. I think honestly, there's still going to be a lot of you, as much as we see Norman readers walking around the giant backpack, even though, you know, delivery men have been out, you know, taken over by AI or whatever. Like, I think you're still going to get what we did before.
I think it'll just be tweaked to hopefully be even more enjoyable and probably be tighter sections is what I would expect. Yeah. I mean, the more I watch the game play in this trailer, I get all the same vibes from that to running one of what the game play is going to be like. I think the action that we see is there to sell the game, right?
Like I think you need to have that stuff in the trailer to show that. Hey, like, you know, it's not just a more walking gamer to have guns and shit, right? I think thematically, I like the leaning into it. I think that's going to play an important part.
And I wonder how that's going to feed back into the actual gameplay. But I don't expect it to be like that much more of a piece of the pie of how much action there is, like, you know, shooting guns and stuff. Because like at the other day, I think you have to choose what the gameplay loop in the gameplay flow of this game is going to be. And if it is a thing of, all right, I'm here to deliver packages, but I keep getting interrupted by action segments and it feels awkward.
It feels like way more interrupting to the core experience of the game. I think that gets in the way of things. I hope that it is a thing of, hey, that's running one. Did something unique, did something had a gameplay style that is about the balancing and the delivery and getting through those BBT areas and all that shit.
Up, up, up, up, left that gameplay. That's kind of where I'm at. I like some of what I saw as far as the different kinds of carrying devices that no marita has. Whereas, yeah, I think that was like a thing that was like a line connected to another thing.
I'm like, look at that. And I get excited. More so than even looking at the action. I think the action looks very pretty.
You played this pretty recently, right? On your scene back. I played it like, when the scene back first came out, that was the first time I played all the way through that's raining. I played like 20 hours when it first came out and then I replayed it and finished the whole thing a couple of years ago.
Yeah, I think it'll be a bit of an evolution. I think there will still be the dedicated what you expect that's trying to gameplay to be of still doing delivery, still dealing with balancing all of the cargo on your back. And I think we'll still see plenty of segments like that. I do think that the action will be a bit more amplified though, especially when we see that one shot kind of in the trailer somewhere where it's just like, it's a zoom in of him, a normal radius with the gun and you're getting like the muzzle flashes in the shot.
It looks so, it reminds me so much of like a phantom pain trailer. It looks like a snake, an enemy that's fighting big boss or something, having a gun fight. It's such classic Ojima that we've all directed. So I definitely want to talk about the snake of it all, but we're going to do that right after the word from our sponsors.

We've got some super chats Christopher Benet writes in saying, fun fact, the guy who looks like Snake is played by Luca Maranelli who Kojima said he wants to see him play Snake in a live-action film. Luca's wife, Lisa Jung is also his wife in the game who's seeing the trailer a little bit there. Greg had a put an article in here from Darren over at GameSpot saying that back in 2020 in an Instagram post Kojima mentioned that Maranelli would be the spitting image of Snake if he ever decided to wear the characters bandana and it looks like the prediction has come true in Death Stranding 2. Final to it myself.
What's also interesting to note here is that the characters flanks by several soldiers similar to how Death Stranding and Tagenus Clifford Unger would surround himself with troops whatever he appeared in the game. That's a gesture on for the deal. As time to become a post-death entity, someone who finds himself driven to complete his unfinished business and can journey to battlefield beaches. Another reference to Melon Gersal, to be seen in the brief scene where Hartman takes control of the DHB Magellan submersible using it with a gigantic entity from the tar to take on the other Titans, Yoji Shankawa who is the art director on 98's Metal Gear Solid also worked on Death Stranding 2 so it's not too surprising to see a few visual callbacks.
There's also a hint of Pacific Rim in the controller and face here for Magellan Man which is a nice illusion of the film's director in Deadbounce Visual Inspiration and Guillermo Del Toro. How about subtle Kojima's? I don't like talking about... You blink any misreferencing.
Again, the character named Rainey has Rain falling on her which is the Rainey is called Time Fault in him and that's what ages you. They're gonna reveal that that his name is Solid Snake Man. What are your thoughts on the Snake illusions? I mean, it's obvious that it's trying to get people all excited about Kojima just showing the thing that we all know him from and the thing that we all love him from.
What it's doing possibly story-wise, I immediately thought of the Death Stranding 2 Director's Cut trailer where Norman Reed looks at the box and goes like, eh, I don't want that or whatever. And I thought maybe that'd be the last sort of callback to a Metal Gear type thing. I thought that maybe Kojima was, alright, I'm done, I'm putting that in the past, but it seems like he's still got some fuel in the belly, some anger out there. The director's cut, if I remember correctly, had modes and stuff of stealth sequences, right?
We need in pretty hard to do this. I never played the director's cut, so I don't remember. But I just remember that little nod from the trailer. Yeah.
Great, what about you? I can't fucking wait to see what he does with his character. I guarantee it's way more than just a bandana. You know what I mean?
In terms of what he's gonna be doing, what he's gonna be saying? What kind of counterpoint he's gonna be to Sam Porter Bridges here? I think there's gonna be a lot of very subtle references to Metal Gear and I can't wait. I think what's hilarious about it all is.
There's no creator out there that just really sort of like publicly does what he does just based on vibes. I heard this Caroline Polo check song that my friend Roger Pertorni showed me. It takes me. You're probably gonna put that song in a game, right?
With all this Skype or all those Zoom meetings he's been having with him. Skybatchett, don't you hear about that? I did. Can you imagine fumbling that bad?
It's idiots. We are the video call conferencing. Everybody's working for home now. Oh fuck, what's it doing?
It's funny. But yeah, the same with, you know, as we've seen him do multiple times post, I saw this movie with this actor. They did a great job. Next time you see him, they're in a Zoom meeting talking next time, they're in person, I go to your productions, they're gonna be in the game.
I just love that he's just, whatever he's doing and he's into, it's like, I'm gonna get you in my game. I love that energy. The snake actor being Luke and Mary Ellie being like, yeah, that guy could play snake in a movie. And here it is.
He's just doing what he's saying that he wants to do, which I love that it's also publicly out there for most of it. So it seems like he's probably gonna be a bad guy. How integral to the plot do you think this character is? Do you think that this is the big one or is it just one of the Rogue's gallery?
I don't think it's one of the Rogue's gallery. I think based off of second part of the trailer, the conversation about what's again, guns and the US and all that stuff, I think he's gonna play a very interesting part of what the plot is, what the themes are. Because one of the things I find fascinating about this training, especially now that we have this solid snake of Jason character in it, is how Death's training stands in opposed to Metal Gear, where I feel like Cojima, I feel like Metal Gear calls to go to the Green Goblin Mask in some ways where it is, man, all right, I'm out after MGS3, I gotta come back and make some MGS4. I gotta make MGS5, right?
I gotta keep coming back. And like, I think this is one of those ones where it makes sense in the ways that Death's training feels like such a common period of we need to come together, we need to connect, we need to like, it is so not a game about war, right? It is so much a game about connection. And I think taking your previous war game and placing it into this one as a opposition of each other, I think can lead to some really interesting things because you know fans love Solid Snake, you know fans love Metal Gear, but you have something that you're trying to say about like where he manages, where he manages that, where the internet's at, where like whatever the thing is, whatever the message you're trying to say is, I think he's gonna be obviously a very major part of it.
But I still look at Troy Baker's character, it's like probably the main bad guy. See, I still think he's gonna be like a second banana, I could see this snake knock off taking the lead and that Higgs is doing his thing coming and throwing it off, but it is this introduction of this guy who's even introduction to that meeting is so snake, right? I was doing your dirty work, right? You know what I mean?
The government turning on Snake and doing it. It'd be interesting to see them cast him here as like, it is so solid snake, but it is this time he's the bad guy. Like, you know, what if Snake went bad or whatever? Do we play this thing?
I can see it. I definitely can see it for sure. Will there be a like, explanation mark anyway or actually, you know, yeah, how far can they push this, you know, it's all just so extremely exciting. I immediately sort of think about what the, like, I think my favorite part of the trailer is we should not have connected and how much of like a statement that is from Kojima color change even there.
It's just like, it's a little, obviously a little too on the nose. We're just making the subtlety jokes, but I think that's such a statement from him and his state of mind and well-being, moving as a human right now in 2025, right? With 2020 or 2019 when this game came out, right? 2019.
2019, November. But yeah, you know, blessing being talking about, you know, the first best shining was about connection. It was about helping one another. It was about doing stuff that, you know, yes, you're getting likes and it's like the social media sort of illusion and you know, but if you're doing stuff for only likes, that's how the Porter, that's why some of the Porter's just became like crazy and they just love delivery because they were only getting likes or whatever.
But in a game that is so much about community and building things together and building bridges for to see in red font, you know, not red font, but why find with that sort of red, really dark looking background thing, we should not have connected. It hits me to my core. It's gonna be like, like, do you think that between 2019 and now, obviously world has changed in quite a few ways, right? But like post pandemic post every like post or at politically and all this shit, right?
Do you think this is like a Kojima soul has changed? Yeah. This is him saying this is his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, good with it. I agree, Kojima.
The internet was a mistake. Yes. I love it so much. But then what's the solution?
The link is Twitter. Like that's the thing is like combining that with the whole sticks or whatever they're saying here, like like the gun culture and then how important guns were to the way things used to be. Like it's kind of a frightening, but I don't think it's Kojima like elevating guns, not that he's above it because he made up his right. But I think it's more so a thing of, Hey, every, I think if I'm to compare this to the real world, right, social media and us connecting all this stuff, right?
Like, I think there is sort of this, when you look at social media, when you look at X, when you look at how that's been manipulated politically, right? I think we're having an adverse reaction right now as far as, oh man, we got a fucking jump ship. AI is taking all the shit over. Oh man, everybody's been shaking to each other.
We got to hop to Bluestack. We got to hop to Thrys. We got to like, I think there's a, this game is going to be more so about the disarray around connection and the reactions to that. And I think in Kojima being like, we should never have connected, right?
I think that's going to be a reaction, but I think the, where this solid snake S character is going to be a villain S role is he's going to be almost like the killmonger of it of taking this idea that could be a good idea and going too far with it of, oh yeah, we should never have connected and we need guns. We need sticks. But like cut those connections, which can you really fasten it back to that shot of all of, of solid snake is standing there with the soldiers where the fireworks happen because there's this, there's this like little subtle moment with the character where he really kind of blinks his eyes. And I don't know why I think that somebody else has taken over his brain right here.
He has this moment he sticks his hand up. He's doing like the military signals telling them to hold amazing shot, like goddamn what I'm directed shot and he has that moment of like, he's kind of like flinching and blincing. Yeah, the severing sort of moment. But I mean, that could be nothing could just be a stressed out dude being like, holy shit, I'm about to get in it right now.
But I don't know. That part just seems like it really stands out to me that he is maybe somewhere he doesn't want to be right now. I love it. I just the face capture the motion capture.
When I looked at the credits, I saw that they are working with, they are partnered with Metahuman who's owned by Epic. Metahuman is is Epic sort of like, we have a an engine to create characters with like a bunch of different faces and stuff. And so I'm just so blown away by the face that they have in this game. I thought, I mean, I thought, I mean, what it looks amazing.
I carry a little. I mean, you look at Horizon Forbidden West, especially burning shores and like the same engine in those faces look incredible. Like I remember playing that being like, wow, I can't believe how good like an alloy and all these other characters look. Well, I think this engine is probably going to go down this generation is like, yo, this is one of those ones.
We want to make a game that looks absolutely gorgeous because the level of details and saying, if I'm Sony, I'm making this a decimal house where we are a decimal household. It's bizarre that that hasn't been more of a thing. I wonder why. I mean, EA, I think tried to do that with their engine.
I think that went wrong for them. Yeah. I think different developers just have the different. Right now, I say, yeah, you know, if, you know, sucker punch is used to working with X and Naughty OX working with Y and these guys are working with decimal.
Like if it's all working, why wrong boat screw with it. I'm saying more for the ones that it's not working for. You know what I mean? Like, like the bends, right?
Like, hey, we don't know if it's working or not working. They just want to get in the kitchen. One quick thing I want to throw out. Do you think what do we think the odds are?
You because you asked, are we going to play as Lucas character here or the snake look like right? What are the odds that we're going to get ridened in this? I think it's going to be normally read us for the first few hours and then bam, we're into this for 39. I want to jump into a search out here from Vokedash or saying is there any hope that does running to will be more very and have action gameplay actions and quotes?
I don't think so. LOL. Cojima didn't think anything was wrong with this running one. This won't be a quote.
I'm not so convinced, man. I feel like there's enough going on in Australia that like, I mean, you guys all beat the game. I did not beat the game. So I do think that that is the most important thing to put out there.
Everything we see in here, I do think that it seems to be an attempt towards getting a bit more mainstream appeal to people of like, hey, this looks so good that you're going to want to play and there's going to be enough action in gameplay stuff that I wouldn't be surprised if I. There's a lot of us to situation, not the main character. No, that's a lot of us to situation. Yeah.
Have the first half as delivery heavy focused. Maybe second half you become snakeish and it's, you know, more action focused and we're getting his back. So we're like, man, the possibilities are endless. I, man, you're getting me so jazzed up, Greg.
Because I'm like, man, I really want to play part one again now. Yeah. See just how it look again. I was so visually impressed by back in the day.
It still looks incredible. But it was the first game we saw DLS with. Shady, right. We're like upscaled like 8K or whatever.
Yeah. Very fascinating. Marcus Ralius says, what kid song iron was used in one of the Assassin's Creed games years ago? He's got a knack for the epic sounds and then Penguin corn says, bless what kids are just sampled in the Kendrick song, the spiteful chance off of section 80.
Oh, oh, shit. Wait, are you are you? Kendrick Eric, which kid? Are you start casting me or like not?
No, this is a joke because me, like when they announced the panel, like a panelist for the Kojima panel yesterday, it was Kojima the Troy Baker, Norman B. Okay. I mean, it's like, who the fuck is Kojima? Okay.
Yeah. I wasn't sure if like you'd already listened to this because I'd never really like heard of him either. But I love when Kojima just isn't his hyper focus bag and he just like will platform the person that I or the musician, the whatever I'm super into right now. Thor Jingle says, I wonder what kind of crossover stuff will get eventually the starting one director's got half life in Cyberpunk.
Who is monster comeback? Monster energy drink? No. It would have had a moment in this trailer.
They took it out of the game because that lies in the expiration. Yeah. Yeah. But like when you licensed it, you get a thank you nail it.
So rockstar. I want to see Celsius. Oh, please God. No, bro.
God, no. He's got hydration station. He can drag behind him. What sort of actor cameos are we getting?
Like we already tell me, right? Yeah. I mean, we saw one here, right? Yeah.
I think his name is like, yeah, my mom do him in terms of, yeah, yeah, yeah, of course train, train to person. What's his name? Don? Don?
Don? Don't talk about different continents. Australia. Yeah, it could be interesting.
More mad next. I mean, well, even though. What's going on with that motorcycle sequence? Cool gameplay.
Yeah, it's cool. What do you mean? It just seems very, on what I'd expect from Death Stranding. Well, I mean it was in Death Stranding.
Again, I think this is going to be right. You know what I mean? I think that's what they're trying to do. I think that we're just talking about pure environmental diversity.
This by far seems way crazier than part one. Part one had a lot of very similar vistas. And whenever you would just jump into the beach, which is kind of like the place between of the place between life and death. That's where you would see some wild shit, but for the most part, it was like snowy or it looked like Iceland.
Yeah, that looked like a road somebody built. Like a yeah, that looks like one of the user created things. 100%. Remember, we're connected now, so it makes sense.
But these environments are the ones that I'm like, where are we? Yeah. Like we're just, he's just normally, he's being a normal delivery man in those sequences where it's this crazy weird galaxy looking vista and then the moon being about seven feet away from plant. Like maybe it's a start to the cross over.
It's a majority mass cross over here. The moon's cool. It's stunning, man. The moon is really cool.
You don't show it for granted. We're gonna be really sad when it's gone. You know, it's doing things. What a matter of what, what matter.
Talk to Sean Kevin. What's it? Can you rewind to that little gunshot sequence with a guy with a little jet pack barrier? Like, see him shooting his head.
Yeah, I love the little helmet being knocked off. I'm sure a little fan of pain type stuff. Very neat. Zeke speaks as sure.
This has been talked about already, but it's interesting to see how literally Kojima is taking Kobo Abe's short story by naming the militant group Sticks. Like y'all said, he ain't subtle. LOL. I don't know what you're referring to, but I would definitely check out.
He likes the thing. I'm getting David Spade in. Yeah, I'm gonna say. What's up with Charlie not getting a red samurai?
I'm getting some big reveal. So, I mean, just what's up with Charlie, period? Why is it a good question? Like, this character Charlie is a mannequin looking dude and has like animated textures on its face to kind of show that it has life.
And that's how we're gonna see the mouth move. But I don't know what it is and why it is, you know? You think this is Timothy Sheldon? Maybe the eyes look like it.
Has the red samurai talking previously? Like, maybe he just doesn't talk. Well, then he's a big reveal. He goes back and he goes away and it is Roger.
It's exactly. He did this morning. Oh, is that what it was? Do we find out what happened?
It was Roger? Well, we just said for the minutes. That was 30 minutes before the mystery dripping of coffee in the kitchen. But Roger knocked over and tired.
It was not an entire coffee cup on his desk. To the point that when Bear came out, he had a worn bear that he'd done in the PlayStation. Was it right next to where the coffee maker is? It's like the whole thing.
It was from Mike's desk. Because Mike has moved desks. From that, and it was like in sections of Drilling. It was like, think of them like footprints, but they were dripping.
It was like how you follow a trail of blood to like a deer that you shot in the forest. Exactly. I think it's kind of funny today. We got a couple super chats that aren't death stranding related.
So if you all have anything more to say about it, please think about it. Many big boys, Sanchez says, I know this struggle Greg is having us a gamer dad. It's our passion. But at the same time, we need to balance it.
It's rough. I don't know what you're talking about. I'm not having that struggle. Scarlett says, I thank you Tim for the Pokémon Fire Red Phone suggested.
I found a GBA emulator and downloaded it. I'm four hours into the game and I love it. Hell yeah. And you just mean it's your crimes like that.
That's crazy. You know what? Fuckin' crazy. Aaron Limes says, oh, where's Dead Man?
It looks like I went and normally just puts his hands to the screen. That looks like a game of Doro's outline. GBT? No, Kevin Kevin.
GBT? Chad GBT? Everyone that became friends. Yeah.
What a tie. Kevin had his little notebook. That's hot dog. Oh, shit.
Any final thoughts on this? That's 22 on the beach. Jamest night of six. Looking forward to that one.
Same. Probably one of my most anticipated here for sure. Yeah. I mentioned on games.
I love this for anyone. Yeah, I mentioned on games. You know, the first trailer that we saw with little ballman animating Oddly, right? That was a while back.
But I feel like we got a trailer recently. Maybe it was TGS or something that was more Death Stranding stuff. And it wasn't necessarily on Big Ash Showcase because it was TGS that we'd never wake when that shit goes down. But the last couple of showings of it, you know, I'm still excited for the game, but I was like, okay, I'm just like, maybe I'm not feeling as much right now.
Maybe it's I'm getting into that too much Monster Hunter trailer sort of area where it's like enough to stop showing this game off. This one just shot all the excitement way back up. I think in the way that they're showing the environments and the way that we saw without UI present, like it's obvious gameplay and moments of the gun in the shooting and the throwing of the spear to shut down the vehicle. All that stuff just very, very exciting.
I think it's like as good of a trailer as Kojuna can make. Yeah, I agree with that as well. Let us know in the comments below how excited you are for Death Stranding 2 on the beach. Oh, TB.
Yeah, you know me. DSOTB. DSOTB. Andy, you can remember that.
Okay. Stay tuned after this for doing the kind of funny podcast. We're going to hang out all about Greg's journeys, wherever the hell he went to make a movie. And that's going to be a very fun time after that.
Nuzlocke 2.0 continues. Thank you so much for hanging out with us. Until next time. Love you all.
