Deceiving Spirits & Influence of False Teachers (“Shipwrecked” Week 7 of 9)

Hopefully, by now, you’ve been able to see there are many ways for our faith to be influenced and pushed off course when we aren’t diligent in our focus on God’s leading in our lives. That’s the reason the series has been named Shipwrecked, because when we listen to what the world values and teaches and adopt it in our own lives as believers, even  we will inevitably lose our footing in the truth and begin drifting off course. The results will bring disaster into our lives and make a complete Shipwreck of it. Today is another big one, and the Bible is very clear that in the last days there will be many false teachers and no shortage of people who will listen to them and be swayed by what they are teaching. Why? It appeals to our sinful human nature, and it’s easy to buy into. Are these people all outside the church? NOT AT ALL! Some of the most prolific false teachers are pastors of huge churches with thousands in attendance every Sunday! As an example, there is a movement known as the “name-it-and-claim-it” crowd who teach that we can name what God needs to do for us, and claim it as if He owes it to us! That’s backward! He doesn’t!
