The joy we chase in this world so often disappoints—but God offers a joy that never runs dry. In this message, we turn to Isaiah 52:13–53:12 and behold one of the clearest and most powerful prophecies of Jesus’ first advent: the Suffering Servant.In this sermon, we’ll see how:God promised a salvation that would come through suffering, not splendorThe Servant would suffer as a substitute, bearing our guilt so we could receive peace and healingThe Servant would suffer innocently, making Him uniquely qualified to pay for the sins of othersThe Servant’s suffering would be temporary, giving way to victory, exaltation, and eternal joyThis prophecy finds its fulfillment in Jesus of Nazareth, who willingly suffered in our place so that we might be forgiven, restored, and filled with lasting joy. At Christmas, we celebrate not only the birth of Christ—but the salvation He came to accomplish.
