December 8, 2019 Sermon
from Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church · host holytrinitylutheranchurch
Second Sunday of Advent. Gospel Reading: Matthew 3:1-12. In the sermon this week, Pastor Tim sets the context of the Isaiah passage and asks us to wonder what it would be like for the lamb the first time they are asked to lie with the lion and trusting that it would be safe. Are there things that the lion could do to help the lamb feel safe? That point is expounded to today's world and asking us who are the lions and the lamb sin today's world? One of the things the lions could do to help gain the trust of the lambs is through repentance. Admitting the hurt that they have caused and asking for forgiveness. The church needs to do this. What other systems need to do this that have cause systemic racism, sexism, etc...?
