Deco Plans Emergency January Centre-Back Signing 🚨
from BarcaBoy
Barcelona’s centre-back situation has taken centre stage after Andreas Christensen’s injury against Sevilla, and this video breaks down how the club are now preparing to dive into the market in January. With Christensen expected to miss around four to six weeks with a left thigh strain, Deco is reportedly keen to add an experienced defender but is also accelerating plans for a younger, long-term option. The main name on their radar is 19-year-old Brazilian left-footed centre-back Arthur Dias from Athletico Paranaense, who has already been scouted in person by Barcelona’s head of recruitment João Amaral during the match against Bahia. The video looks at Dias’ profile, why he fits Barcelona’s defensive needs, how much Athletico PR are asking (around €30m/£25.7m), and which other clubs are in the race, including Tottenham, Newcastle, Atlético Madrid and several Premier League sides. It also explores whether Barcelona will try to move for him in January or wait until summer, and how Christensen’s setback has pushed the club to prioritise reinforcements at the back for the second half of the season.
