She graduated with her Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota's Organizational Leadership, Policy, and Development Graduate Program. Her research focuses on how colleges and universities support first-generation college students, with an emphasis on institutional change agents and organizational change. As a first-generation college student, her work now supports first-generation students and focuses on the intersections of the first-generation identity and how the structures of higher education can be changed to support students.
